Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is a celebration honouring the Mother of the family, or Mother figure, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of Mothers in society. In many parts of the world it would usually be celebrated this Sunday, 22nd March. Presents with ‘World’s Best Mummy’ would be exchanged and my cupcakes gifted as a yummy twist on traditional flowers. This year will be a Mother’s Day like no other, as scores of people self isolate and are forced to rethink plans with loved ones which to be honest with you, totally sucks!
During these unprecedented times, technology is playing even more of a huge part in society. Social media will become even more of a prominent form of communication and engagement for many this Sunday. Teaching our Mother’s, Nanny’s, Grandma’s how to stay in touch via Skype on devices we encouraged them to purchase “just for emergencies” and how to flip the camera forward facing so we’re not staring at the floor for the whole conversation! Personally, I have received so many messages of amazing support from my followers who have enjoyed seeing me continue to regularly post photos of my buttercream cupcakes and have mentioned how it has bought a smile to their face in what can seem like a gloomy reality at the moment.
If you have a social media page, I’d love to talk to you and keep eachother company. You can find me across social media, I’ll pop my links at the bottom of this blog and please do let me know what you’d like to see me posting to help brighten your day. We are all in this together and you’ve all helped to create a community in which we can be kind and support each other through these difficult times. I’d be really interested to hear how you are spending your Mother’s Day this year and would love to give a special shout out to the lovely ladies in your life! So please do feel free to private message me, I try my hardest to respond to my messages as quickly as I can.
As a Mum myself, I’ll be taking some time out to spend with my two little ones, after I’ve finished baking my Mother’s Day orders. This year I offered two different styles of bouquets, a beautiful pink and cream and a lovely spring yellow. Knowing that my cupcakes will be putting a smile on many faces especially this weekend has really helped me in these recent times, so thank YOU to those who have placed an order with me and supported this journey. I would personally like to wish all of the Mother’s out there, especially mine a very Happy Mother’s Day, however you are spending it.
I’d like to finish with some words that I found online which I would like to share ;
When this is over,
May we never again take for granted
A handshake with a stranger
Full Shelves at the store
Conversations with neighbours
A crowded theater
Friday night out
A routine checkup
A school rush each morning
Coffee with a friend
The stadium roaring
Each deep breath
A boring Tuesday
Life itself
When this ends,
May we find
That we have become
More like the people
We wanted to be
We were called to be
We hoped to be
And may we stay
That way – better
For each other
Because of the Worst. (Laura Kelly Fanucci)
Take care of one another and yourself. Be safe.
