Happy 6th Birthday to Kerry’s Bouqcakes!

Honestly, it feels like yesterday I was sitting here writing a blog article on Kerry’s Bouqcakes turning 5 – wow, how time flies when you’re having fun!! There will be many of you who read this, that have been with me on my journey since beginning Kerry’s Bouqcakes back in 2017, but also many of you who have recently stumbled upon my crazy cupcake life, and for that I thank you!
Looking back over the last 12 months, I have been truly blessed to have been able to resume my face-to-face tutorials, which had to be temporarily postponed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Now travel restrictions have been mostly eased, I have welcomed students for a buttercream lesson from all over the world! I have had students travel from halfway across the globe to have a face-to-face class with me. The fact that they leave feeling like they have accomplished something beautiful through their own efforts is so fantastic to see and fills me with pride at their achievements. You can read for yourselves via my Facebook or Google reviews, the feedback from some of these students, and please, do feel free to reach out to me if this is something that interests you! As many of you will know, not only do I offer face-to-face tutorials, but you can also purchase an online tutorial right here from my website, that allows you to learn as and when you wish. I have online tutorials that are suitable for all skill levels, whether you are a complete novice who has never picked up a piping bag before or if you regularly pipe in buttercream but want to stretch yourself. Throughout 2022 and the beginning of 2023, I have released many new tutorials, including not one, but two on using GG Cakraft Nozzles. Don’t forget that if you share your work on social media use the hashtag #learningwithkerry as I regularly choose a student at random to win a voucher to be used on my website!
Since my 5th business birthday, I have also released a slightly different tutorial, well more of a package, called Business Support. This business guide includes over 90 pages of a wide range of topics to help and support you in your business journey. The topics covered have all been written specifically for self-employed bakers. This in-depth experience-based guide draws on a wealth of personal knowledge. It is also a forum to ask business-related questions from fellow bakers and share business ideas. I have also included some short “how to” videos to assist you with navigating social media platforms etc. I know many of you have found it super useful which I am so pleased about! To purchase this package, please click here.
If you follow me on social media, you may have seen that I partnered with Kenwood UK on a special collaboration, where we gave away a Kenwood kMix. I was absolutely blown away to be working with such a well-known and well-established business, a brand that I have used since Kerry’s Bouqcakes began.
I have always and will always say that follower count isn’t the be-all and end-all of success, but I have been blown away, especially in the last 12 months at just how many of you have seen, commented, liked and shared my work! It really does mean the world to me, and it’s been staggering to know that some of my reels have been seen over 11 million times and been featured on accounts such as Buzz Feed Tasty, a viral recipes profile!
Of course, as well as my online tutorials and face-to-face tutorials, I am still baking cupcakes for those special occasions! I was honoured to have been asked to create my largest order to date, which was 500 cupcakes yes 500! These were for a farming conference and I worked through the night to ensure they were as fresh as possible! My hands certainly didn’t thank me for it, and I was rather delirious with still 100 cupcakes left to pipe, but I felt so grateful to have been chosen as the supplier to create the cupcakes for this prestigious corporate customer.
On the days that I am filming content for social media, or a new tutorial, I would never throw away and waste the cupcakes I have piped, and I continue to donate many of these to my children’s school for their amazing teachers or to my local NHS hospital. A small gesture like this really does go a long way to cheering up other people and I get a good feeling too. (Remember my health blog about releasing those good endorphins helping you to maintain your own mental health.) Let’s all spread a little kindness whenever we can.
Keep an eye on my social channels and website, as I will be running an online course sale to celebrate my business birthday with you during March!
I think the most important thing to note is that after 6 years in business, I still love flower piping as much as ever. If anything, my love for it grows year after year. My job is my hobby, my passion, and a huge part of my identity and I am so proud of the brand I have created. I have grown as a person too in those 6 years and have much more confidence when making decisions that would at one time would have daunted me. Not much in life is certain but I know for sure my love for being a cupcake artist of buttercream flowers will never die out.
I can’t wait to see what the next year holds for Kerry’s Bouqcakes and thank you again to you all for coming along for the ride! I wouldn’t be where I am today without you all, and I hope that you can sense just even a part of how thankful I am to YOU my amazing loyal followers!!!
Lots of love,
Kerry xo
