Introducing Box Your Bouqcakes

As with most small businesses they tend to begin because a need is recognised. That is exactly why our sister business ‘Box Your Bouqcakes’ was created.

I will start by introducing my husband. You may have read about Brett in previous blogs as he is my rock. I think he got so fed up of me complaining about the lack of suitably sized and good quality boxes I needed for my cupcake bouquets that he set about doing something about it. I am the creative side of Kerry’s Bouqcakes whereas Brett is the finance and mathematical wizard. So, with paper, card and a ruler he set about designing boxes that were bespoke for my business. He established a contact with a box maker and sent them the prototype box. A few tweaks later and “Hey Presto” a bouqcake box was born. Not one box but two. (we don’t do anything by halves!!) More sizes are also about to go on sale too for the larger bouqcakes.

Our bespoke box design shows off the bouqcakes to perfection incorporating clear side and top windows so it can be viewed from many angles. To many people it looks just like a traditional flower bouquet at first glance which adds to the delicious edible surprise for the recipient.

The box card is strong and protects the product when it is being transported and covers the cakes completely protecting it from contamination and the elements. The boxes are also suitable for large cakes. What I love most is the ease of use. In my case, Brett makes up my boxes the night before the order so all I have to do is pop the bouquet or cake into the box. Sorry if you don’t have such an obliging partner!!

Our first test shipment of a few thousand boxes was so popular it sold out within a week with boxes mainly going to UK, America and Europe. Our next shipment should be here by the time you read this blog. The feedback from other cake makers was very positive and this can be seen on our Box Your Bouqcakes Facebook page in reviews. This is hopefully just the start of Box Your Bouqcakes as Brett (with my input) has many ideas for more bespoke cake related products, some of which will be coming to market over the next few months with a fair wind.
