Small Steps
Blog ideas regularly come to me in the middle of the night or as I’m dropping off to sleep. In fact, this one was midnight!!! and when the idea for this blog came to me, I had to put pen to paper quick or I would have forgotten it by morning.
I want to take a look at what can hold us back in life, both personally and professionally. My inspiration for this blog was motivated by the number of messages I get daily from people who want to set up their own cake businesses or embark on a new hobby. They are hesitant for various reasons and give themselves excuses as to why now isn’t the right time for them or because they feel they may not be good enough.
Our mind is an integral powerful part of us all but it does have the ability to skew our thinking, putting perceived obstacles in our way. It’s easy to focus on the “what ifs” and what could go wrong, rather than what could go right. If you wait for the perfect time it will never happen so just go for it and embrace the challenge – you may be pleasantly surprised!

Little Acts of Kindness
When I wrote my blog, a year ago, concentrating on mental health (link to 2019 Health blog) I had no idea what lay ahead of us. What an unexpected year we have had, with the pandemic and economic struggles resulting from it, even the strongest of people are feeling weary and fatigued.
But I want to celebrate the successes we have had this year rather than dwell on the difficulties.
When the world closed-down we were all looking for new outlets to fill our days. I am so pleased so many of you decided to follow my lead and start on a journey of buttercream piping to fill some of your time. I have been so impressed with all the cupcake flowers you have made. I look at the work produced and posted on my VIP Cake Community and feel such joy at the accomplishments. So proud of you all and what you have achieved and the kindnesses you have shown to others on their journey.

Cupcakes for Health and Well-being
World Mental Health Awareness Day is on the 10th October, for a full week in the United States and in Canada for all of October so this seemed like a good time to write this blog.
I want to start by saying that this subject is one that resonates with me personally. I have mentioned in previous blogs that I am sensitive by nature. I want to share with you my experience and to let you know that despite your anxieties and mental health issues that you can be successful (and I don’t necessarily mean in business but in life). I have had spells when I have not known which way to turn and where the path forward is. I want to show you that you can manage your mental health and run a successful global business.
