Summer Sun and Buttercream
It seems such an age since my last blog. Where has all that time gone?
Here in the UK, we have been enjoying some amazing Summer sun. For those of you who live in the UK, this is really exciting to have more than one sunny day at a time, without a deluge of rain in between. The lack of rain has been a bit of a challenge with hosepipe bans, and some field fires but we have been luckier than many countries that have been beset with vast fires raging in the countryside. My thoughts go out to them.
You all know by now I love my fresh flowers but my garden is really looking very sad at the moment with wilted plants despite me getting out my watering can. I don’t think my flowers in their current state will give me much inspiration for new projects.
Buttercream has also been a challenge in this hot weather. I know some of you from hotter climates have already worked out how to manage the heat and share this knowledge with others on my VIP Cake Community to help new pipers. I thank you all for your generosity of spirit. This spirit really is what makes my cake community so very special to me and all of the other members.Read More

I have learnt so much along the way that I wanted to share with you.
So, I think I may be a bit late for the Spring party this year as we nudge towards Summer but life, family etc sometimes get in the way of work.
I love how everything, including me. regenerates in Spring. My garden burst into colour with daffodils, tulips and new green shoots appearing daily from long forgotten plants. It gives me that long awaited lift that the Winter blues are finally over and we are heading for sunny days. Obviously, it is only Spring here and some of you are now heading for your Winter but hopefully my new spring flowers will help you push the Winter blues away and give you a new piping challenge ready for when your Spring arrives.Read More
Happy 5th Birthday to me
Five years and still going strong!! It does not feel like a year had passed since I was celebrating my last business birthday. I still feel that sense of pride and achievement with each birthday that passes. I love reflecting over the year and what celebrations and challenges I have faced along the way. I guess one of my biggest challenges continues to be the global pandemic that we are all still trying to find our ways through. We have all had to adapt to a new way of living and working and my business is no exception. It has had to evolve to take account of this. I assume we all have a new normal but with this comes a lot of uncertainty about what the future holds for us. This uncertainty has certainly made me push my boundaries and look for new opportunities.Read More
I am a strong believer that hard work and talented should be recognised. It can really make someone’s day to feel appreciated and praised. Don’t forget, in a world where you can be anything, be kind….
Which leads me nicely on to celebrating the A-MAZ-ING talent of my students! As with any skill, we all have to start somewhere, and I am delighted to see the progress of these amazing bakers on their floral piping journey! I feel so pleased and proud that I have helped them in some way or another. Rewind to the beginning of my own journey, there was a time I’d picked up a piping nozzle for the first time ever, gave it a go and felt failed, but didn’t give up, tried and tried again and well as they say, the rest is history!
I am always sharing the work of my students across my social media channels and also on my blog. I would be thrilled if you could all support one another, share the love and show some love! Whether that’s a like on their post, a comment here and there, or even a share of their work!
